Allotment

Getting our first allotment in early 2011, was a easy decision to make.
It was close to home and very cheap!

We are a million miles away from when we first took over the allotment, the next few photos
speed up the process.

November 2010
The photo above was taken in November 2010, a day after our offer on our house was accepted.
I took the photo as it was a nice evening, and this was to be our future outlook.
So the photo was taken 5 or 6 months before we took it over, so I am really pleased to have this photo.

Our allotment is very much a TEAM effort, but most importantly without MM it would not be possible,
well the allotment would still ours but I wouldn't imagine we would still be eating home grown potatoes
in February 2012, thats 3 families with home grown potatoes for 9 months.

In this photo the allotment has been cleared and the seed potatoes are in the ground.
You can just about see the wooden markers each side.
In the middle there is a flat ish patch of soil, there we planted carrots (but not enough),
beetroots (Later they were pickled by SM) and radishes.

Here you can just about see the potatoes coming through, beyond the flat bit we planted earlies
in the foreground we planted main crop ( desiree ) in stages, and the first few rows are coming up.

So........ it looks a bit potato mad!
You can now see our polynet (I think I just made this word up) tunnels, and some extra rows of potatoes
next to them.
To be honest people did make comments when they passed by.......
mostly they said things like "So you like potatoes then!"
